The Mainland Connection's story is woven into the very fabric of Nantucket life. It all began in the 1970s when Tim Dugan, a UPS driver assigned to the island route, saw a need that went beyond simple package delivery. He envisioned a company that could bridge the gap between mainland conveniences and island living, handling the unique logistical challenges that come with life 30 miles out to sea.
In 1982, that vision became a reality when Tim founded The Mainland Connection. What started as a small moving and storage operation quickly grew into a vital part of the Nantucket community. For over four decades, we've been more than just a business – we've been neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers for countless islanders and wash-ashores alike. Today, while the faces may have changed as the business passed to new owners who are friends of the Dugan family, our commitment to the island and its people remains as strong as ever. We're proud to carry on Tim's legacy, combining old-fashioned island values with modern logistics expertise to keep Nantucket moving forward.
